Marquette's Tyler Kolek headed to the NBA draft after back-to-back All-American seasons
Tyler Kolek came to the Marquette men's basketball team as an unheralded transfer. He's leaving MU as a likely NBA draft pick.
The 6-foot-3 All-American point guard announced on social media on Wednesday that he is forgoing his fifth season of NCAA eligibility and entering the NBA draft.

Kolek has moved up draft boards after a strong senior season, and he's seen as a possible first-round selection. He averaged 15.3 points per game and handed out 239 assists.
Kolek has been a consensus All-American the last two seasons. Markus Howard and Butch Lee are the only other players in MU history to achieve that.
The Rhode Island native spent one season at George Mason. But when Shaka Smart was hired by MU in April 2021, he saw the potential star in Kolek.
Kolek started all 99 games in which he appeared for the Golden Eagles over three seasons, averaging 11.7 points and 7 assists per game. He missed six games with an oblique injury this season, including the entire Big East tournament.
Kolek joins teammate Oso Ighodaro in declaring for the NBA draft. Ighodaro, an all-Big East second team performer, made his announcement on Tuesday. The two players were the hubs of a highly calibrated offense, and MU will look much different without them.
With their departures, the Golden Eagles have one roster slot open for next season. MU has two incoming freshmen in Damarius Owens and Royce Parham.
