Mario Anderson injury update: Memphis football RB returns to game after injury
Mario Anderson, Memphis' leading rusher, left Saturday's game with an injury and went into the locker room but returned later in the game.
Anderson left Saturday's game with an apparent leg injury during the third quarter. He took a carry to the left sideline on Memphis' first offensive play of the second half and limped to the sideline after the play. He eventually walked into the Memphis locker room.
He'd had a significant workload for the Tigers up to that point. True freshman Makari Bodiford replaced him and rushed for a touchdown, but Anderson returned for the next drive.
Sutton Smith suffered a knee injury in the first quarter of the season opener and will miss the rest of the season. Greg Desrosiers suffered a clavicle injury against Florida State on Sept. 14 and has been out since. Brandon Thomas had played a significant role next to Anderson, but he appeared to get injured during last week's win over North Texas and did not play in Saturday's game.
Mario Anderson stats
Anderson had rushed for 639 yards and 12 touchdowns before Saturday's game.
