LSU basketball is back in the postseason.

The Tigers were passed over for the NCAA Tournament following their loss to Mississippi State in the SEC Tournament, but not only was LSU chosen for the NIT, the Tigers also received the opportunity to host an opening-round game.

LSU's opponent is the North Texas Mean Green, a team making its third consecutive appearance in the NIT. The Mean Green (18-14) won last season's NIT, and North Texas is looking to become the first program to repeat as NIT champions since South Carolina in 2005 and 2006.

These two teams met in November, with the Tigers beating the Mean Green, 66-62, in Charleston, S.C.
