Louisiana's Gerry Glasco hired as new Texas Tech softball coach

The Texas Tech softball team has its new leader.

Director of athletics Kirby Hocutt announced Thursday that Gerry Glasco will be the new head coach for the Red Raiders. Galsco replaces Craig Snider, who left for an assistant coaching position at Tennessee earlier this month.

Glasco spent the last seven years coaching the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns, where he compiled a .773 winning percentage. Louisiana was 300-88 in Glasco's tenure, securing five Sun Belt Conference regular-season titles and advanced to the NCAA Tournament in each eligible year.

Louisiana advanced to the Super Regions in 2023 as the No. 13 national seed.

"I am excited, thrilled and humbled to guide the Texas Tech softball program," Glasco said in the news release. "With the guidance of the outstanding administration under Kirby Hocutt, I look forward to helping Tech Softball become one of the best programs in the nation. We will build a culture of competition and excellence in everything that we do both on and off the field."

Glasco's collegiate coaching career began at Georgia in 2009 where he was elevated to associate head coach from 2012 to 2014. He was also the associate head coach at Texas A&M (2015-17) and Auburn (2017) before earning the head coaching job at Louisiana in 2018.

He made appearances in the Women's College World Series with Georgia twice and with Auburn. Glasco has never missed an NCAA Regional in his 15 years as a collegiate coach, not counting the COVID-shortened 2020 season.

Texas Tech last made an appearance in an NCAA Regional in 2019.

A virtual press conference will be held Friday to formally introduce Glasco as the next coach.
