Texas Tech softball searches for new head coach after Craig Snider's resignation

The Texas Tech softball team will be looking for its fourth head coach in the last six years after the resignation of Craig Snider, the athletics department announced Sunday.

Justin McLeod of D1Softball reported Sunday morning that Snider had accepted a position on the staff at Tennessee. Tech announced the search for a new head coach a short while later. The Vols announced the hire of Snider as the team's new hitting coach soon after.

"We expect to compete for Big 12 Championships at Texas Tech," director of athletics Kirby Hocutt said in the news release. "We have a young and talented roster that is more than ready to build off this past season and compete for championships."

Snider led the Red Raiders for two seasons, compiling a 60-43 record in that time. Texas Tech went 29-21 this season and was among the first four out of the NCAA tournament. Snider had signed the second-ranked 2024 recruiting class in the country according to Extra Inning Softball.

The release notes that Snider informed Tech on Saturday night that he had accepted another position at a different university. Hocutt's comment stated, "We have already begun our search to identify that next leader."
