Longtime FAMU DRS girls basketball coach Ericka Cromartie joins FAMU women's basketball staff
Ericka Cromartie is headed down the road for her new gig.
On Friday, Florida A&M athletics announced on social media that the longtime FAMU Developmental Research School girls' basketball coach is joining the Rattlers women's basketball staff as an assistant.
Cromartie is under the leadership of second-year FAMU women's basketball coach Bridgette Gordon.
FAMU DRS assistant coach James Brown has been elevated to Baby Rattlers' interim coach for the 2024-2025 season, which begins on Nov. 21 at Florida High.
Cromartie's departure from FAMU DRS comes after 10 years of leading the Baby Rattlers. Cromartie, who attended FAMU DRS when it was called FAMU High School, led her alma mater to two state championships in 2015 and 2016 and four final four appearances during her tenure.
Cromartie has also earned the 2021 All-Big Bend Coach of the Year honor for her accomplishments at FAMU DRS.
Cromartie, from Midway, is familiar with HBCU basketball as she played collegiately for NCAA Division II Miles College, where she's in a member of the its athletic program's hall of fame.
Cromartie is also a FAMU alumna, earning her Master of Science degree in Sport Management in 2013.
FAMU women's basketball currently sits at 0-2, dropping its first two games to Howard (78-66) and most recently Florida (102-67) on Thursday.
The Rattlers will be back in action on Monday for a crosstown game versus the Florida State Seminoles (1-1).
