Game recap: Purdue basketball holds off Michigan State, wins 80-74 in Big Ten action
The Purdue Boilermakers are on a two-game win streak as they welcome the Michigan State Spartans to Mackey Arena tonight.
Purdue (25-3 overall, 14-3) is coming off wins against Rutgers and Michigan and holds a two-game lead over Illinois in the Big Ten standings with three games left in the regular season.

Final: Purdue holds off Michigan State
Purdue shot 51% from the floor (25-49). Zach Edey led the way with 32 points and 11 rebounds. Braden Smith had 23 points and 9 rebounds. Fletcher Loyer had 15 points and 4 3s.

7:33 left 2H: Michigan State makes a comeback
After starting the second half slow, the Spartans matched the Boilermakers in second-half points (20) for a time. Though it now stands at 24-22, Purdue.

15:16 left 2H: Purdue opens second half with a 13-4 run
Braden Smith opened the second half with a layup, followed by Fletcher Loyer's 3-pointer at the 19:27 mark. Zach Edey scored 6 points so far in the second half alone.

Halftime: Purdue closes first half on a run
Zach Edey's free throws gave the Boilermakers a 29-28 lead at 3:51. Edey then made two more free throws less than a minute later. At 2:25, Edey had a dunk and at 1:46, he had a layup. What a way to end the half for the big man. He had 15 points and 5 rebounds in the first half.
Braden Smith hit a 3-pointer at 1:15 to give Purdue a 38-30 advantage. Smith had 12 points in the half.
MSU scored the last 5 points of the half to keep this one close going into the second.

3:51 left 1H: Purdue makes a comeback
Fletcher Loyer made a 3 to make it 26-22, then a Zach Edey jumper cut it to 2. Loyer added another 3 at 4:29 to give the Boilermakers a 27-26 lead. But Michigan State's Jaxon Kohler made a layup to give the Spartans the lead again.

Braden Smith made a free throw to cut Michigan State's lead to 15-14, but the Spartans have kept the Boilermakers from making a serious run. Braden Smith leads Purdue with 9 points.

MSU jumped out to a 12-6 lead at the 14:37 mark. Braden Smith hit a 3-pointer at 14:28 to cut the Spartans' lead to 13-9. A few minutes later, Smith nailed another 3 to get Purdue within 2 points.
