Lions vs. Cowboys inactives: James Houston out of playing rotation again in Week 6

ARLINGTON, Texas — James Houston's return to the gameday roster was short-lived.

Houston is one of five inactives for the Detroit Lions for today's game against the Dallas Cowboys, along with offensive lineman Colby Sorsdal and rookies Loren Strickland, Gio Manu and Lauren Strickland.

Houston had eight sacks in seven games as a rookie in 2022, but has not made an impact on the Lions defense since. He missed most of last season with a broken leg and has played just 17 defensive snaps in two games this year.

In Week 4, Houston was flagged twice for offsides penalties in 14 snaps, mostly as a pass rusher. The Lions elevated Isaac Ukwu to the gameday roster from practice squad this week to play in a backup role at outside linebacker.

While the Lions have a relatively roster coming off the bye, the Cowboys (3-2) will be without defensive starters Micah Parsons and Eric Kendricks, who were ruled out with injuries Friday.
