Lawrence North sweeps Marion County awards; Robinson player of year, Giffin coach of year
Lawrence North junior guard Azavier Robinson is the Marion County player of the year by a vote of the Marion County Coaches Association.
Robinson, who is averaging 19.6 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 2.3 steals for the Wildcats going into Class 4A semistate on Saturday, eclipsed the 1,000-point mark earlier this season. He leads Lawrence North (25-3) in scoring, assists and steals going into Saturday’s Class 4A semistate against Jeffersonville (19-7) at New Castle.
Lawrence North coach Chris Giffin, who guided the Wildcats to a Marion County tournament championship, is the county coach of the year. Giffin is 43-11 in two seasons as coach after moving over as the Lawrence North girls’ coach to replace the retiring Jack Keefer.
