LaNorris Sellers injury updates: South Carolina QB leaves game with ankle injury again vs. LSU

South Carolina quarterback LaNorris Sellers has responded to punch after punch in Saturday's SEC opener against No. 17 LSU.

But the Gamecocks' freshman gunslinger sustained an injury just before halftime, one that might give him some trouble in the second half.

Just before halftime vs. the Tigers, Sellers attempted to scramble out with the football to get away from the blitz but was ultimately brought down for a sack. As Sellers went down to the ground, he sustained an ankle injury. He'd limp off the field and later into the locker room on his own power.

"It doesn't help but we have confidence in Robby Ashford and Davis Beville," South Carolina coach Shane Beamer told ESPN's Holly Rowe heading into halftime. "He's got a little bit of an ankle (injury) but we will go in there, look at it and see where we are."

Sellers came out on the South Carolina sideline for the second half, but with tape on his ankle and no helmet on his head, ESPN's Holly Rowe reported South Carolina is unsure how much he can play.

Sellers returned briefly to the game as he headed out for South Carolina's second drive of the second half vs. LSU. ESPN's broadcast showed his ankle was heavily taped as he headed out onto the field. However, he was not out there during South Carolina's touchdown scoring drive in the fourth quarter. Robby Ashford took over again at quarterback.

Sellers did not head out for South Carolina's first offensive drive of the second half. Instead, backup Robby Ashford was the one under center for the Gamecocks. ESPN's Holly Rowe reported that Sellers was running on the sidelines while South Carolina's defense was out on the field to start the half, but his right ankle was continuously bothering him. Rowe went on to say that every time Sellers put pressure on it, he had a "grimace" look on his face.

Ashford and South Carolina's offense would go three and out on the first drive of the second half.

Sellers sustained an ankle injury just before halftime vs. LSU in an attempt to not get sacked. He'd limp off the field and be checked out by a South Carolina trainer on the bench before walking into the locker room.

ESPN's broadcast showed Sellers walking into the locker room with a limp.
