LaMelo Ball won $200 off Jordan Clarkson playing Pop-A-Shot
The next time Lonzo Ball has a birthday party, someone remind Jordan Clarkson not to go — or at least not to play LaMelo Ball in Pop-A-Shot.
On Sunday, Clarkson attended birthday festivities for Lonzo, the No. 2 overall draft pick, to celebrate the rookie’s 20th birthday. But while the celebration ensued at Dave & Busters, it seems Clarkson and 16-year-old LaMelo decided to battle it out in a game of Pop-A-Shot.
LaMelo got the best of Clarkson and lost $200, according to the Orange County Register’s Bill Oram. To put it in Clarkson’s words, LaMelo was “whooping his a**.”
LaMelo, Rivals.com’s No. 17 prospect in the 2019 class, is home-schooled and set to graduate high school in 2019. He has verbally committed to play for UCLA, following in the footsteps of Lonzo and LiAngelo.
However, the release of his own shoe — Melo Ball 1 — with the Big Baller Brand could put his NCAA eligibility in jeopardy.
“We’ll worry about it when we get there,” LaVar Ball told ESPN back in August. “Who cares? If he can’t play, then he can’t play. It doesn’t mean he’ll stop working out and getting better.”
NCAA eligibility or not, LaMelo has some serious hops — and to think, he’s only 16 years old. If he can beat Clarkson at Pop-A-Shot now, maybe he’ll get the chance to do it to him on the court in the near future?
