Lafayette-Area High school football: Live score updates and more from Week 5
Teams are facing familiar foes as we approach the midway point of the 2024 high school football season in Lafayette Parish and its surrounding area.
For some teams, this week is a kickoff to district play while others are looking to continue their journey to a district championship. For seven teams, Week 5 is homecoming which will be a night filled with showing out for football fans past and present.
Last week, 16 area teams came away with a victory with Acadiana beating its opponent with the largest margin. The Wreckin’ Rams beat New Iberia 62-0 to open up class 5A District 3 play with a dub. Other area teams who started off district play on the right foot are Southside, Rayne, Northside, Teurlings Catholic, Church Point, Crowley, Iota, and St. Edmund.
The teams who have yet to drop a game so far this season are Teurlings Catholic, Vermilion Catholic, Opelousas Catholic, Ascension Episcopal, Jeanerette, and St. Edmund. This week sets the stage for more thrilling high school football matchups for teams looking to build on their winning streak and for others to crack the goose egg in the win column.
