La Salle standout quarterback Gavin Sidwar opts out of Rutgers, reopens recruitment
La Salle College junior quarterback Gavin Sidwar has decommitted from Rutgers.
Sidwar, a four-star QB from Warrington, made the announcement via Twitter, saying "after careful consideration, I decided to decommit. … I think it's best that I reopen my commitment at this time."
A 6-foot-3, 185-pounder, Sidwar led the Explorers to a 10-0 regular season in 2024 highlighted by a 35-34, four-overtime win over St. Joseph's Prep, giving Prep its first loss to a Pennsylvania team in three years. Sidwar threw four touchdown passes in the game.
La Salle is off this week prior to starting the District 12 Class 6A playoffs, where it will face St. Joe's Prep again Nov. 9 (1 p.m.) in the district semifinals at Wissahickon High School.
After careful consideration, I decided to decommit from Rutgers. I appreciate all the coaches and staff that recruited me - there are great people in that building. I think it’s best that I reopen my recruitment at this time. pic.twitter.com/1Z8nHtYx1Y
