Kyren Williams as punt returner for Sean McVay's Rams is the worst news for his fantasy football value
Two things were true going in to the 2024 NFL season for Kyren Williams: he was explosive last year, averaging 95.3 yards per game and scoring 12 times on the ground and three times through the air.
But he was also a risky pick in fantasy football this year with the Los Angeles Rams drafting Blake Corum out of Michigan.
And now there's a third truth: with Sean McVay (who has been known to talk fantasy football) revealing Williams would return punts for the team, to -- per McVay, via ESPN -- "get touches and impact the game," Williams is even riskier as a pick in fantasy.
This could mean he's even more of an injury risk. This is why he's on our list of players being taken too high in fantasy football.
“Do most teams use expendable players as punt returners? Yes. Is Kyren Williams most players? No! This is actually a good thing! It’s not bad. It’s seriously probably good. It’s also maybe bad. Okay, it’s both good and bad. Maybe it’ll be good! Could be bad though.” pic.twitter.com/uiEbwSle8h

Everyone: “Now Coach McVay, Kyren Williams was incredibly effective last season. With a better backup, he can lessen his total volume and concentrate on high value touches. No need to risk injury with something insane like returning punts.”
