Kyle Larson attempts the Double: Indianapolis 500-NASCAR Cup schedule
Kyle Larson will attempt the Double on May 26, driving in the IndyCar Series' Indianapolis 500 followed by NASCAR Cup's Coca-Cola 600.
Larson, 31, is in his 12th year of NASCAR Cup racing. He won the 2021 series championship and already has two race wins this year, giving him 25 career victories. The Indy 500 would be his first IndyCar Series race.
There are six days of Indy 500 practice and two days of qualifying before the scheduled May 26 race. NASCAR Cup has its All-Star weekend May 17-19 at North Wilkesboro (N.C.) Speedway, followed by Coca-Cola 600 weekend May 25-26 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
There are four days of potential on-track IndyCar/NASCAR overlap: May 17-19 and May 26.
How will Larson deal with the heavy driving and traveling schedule? It's possible he could add some short-track racing. He loves it, owns a sprint car team, and there are tons of tracks near Indy in North Carolina.
