The Bradley men's basketball team has added another international recruit.

Timoty Van Der Knaap, 18, committed to BU last week, according to a post on X.com. The 6-foot-9 forward is from Italy and plays for Bertram Tortona in the country's U20 developmental league. He is averaging 12.0 points and 3.7 rebounds through three games this season.

Van Der Knaap played last season for Orange1 Bassano Academy, a sports developmental academy in Bassano, Italy. He then played on the Italian under-18 national team during the FIBA U18 European Championships, averaging 4.7 points and playing around 18 minutes over the seven games. He is a member of the Class of 2024 and joins Milwaukee prep guard Jaquan Johnson, who committed to BU last month.

Bradley is no stranger to international talent. The current roster has players from Netherlands, Serbia and Iceland. Under coach Brian Wardle, the program also has pulled in players from Finland, Canada, Cameroon, France, South Sudan, England, Australia and Nigeria.

European scout Pietro Cristofori called Van Der Knaap a solid student who is "sized and lengthy," with "above average athleticism and (is a) slasher." Pro Insight scout Jason Filippi saw Van Der Knaap in early 2022 when he was at Orange1, calling him a versatile and polished all-around player.

"He has good ball skills and showed some intriguing potential as a secondary ball-handler," Filippi wrote. "Good passer — feeds the post well and can act as a facilitator. He is a good spot-up shooter but needs to develop a better pull-up game.

"He is not as versatile on defense as he is on offense but with his smarts, he’s able to defend his position well enough for higher levels of competition. He is a late-bloomer who still has margins for improvement in many aspects."
