Keyonte George lights up Jazz Summer League

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4 Sports) – After his first two Summer League games, Keyonte George may be in line for a summer vacation.

George scored 31 points and dished out five assists, as the Jazz beat the Philadelphia 76ers Wednesday night to wrap up the Salt Lake Summer League, 93-85.

George poured in 30 points in Monday’s win over Memphis, and showed it may not be worth the risk to play him in any more games in Las Vegas next week.

Jazz draft picks eager to start Summer League

“Last night obviously didn’t go the way we wanted to,” George said about Utah’s loss to Oklahoma City, a game George sat out. “So we just wanted to come out here and pick it up a little bit.”

Taylor Hendricks added 18 points, making four of six three-pointers, while Brice Sensabaugh added 17 points as the Jazz finished the Salt Lake Summer League with a record of 2-1.

Walker Kessler pulled down 15 rebounds for the Jazz, while rookie Isaiah Collier poured in 12 points off the bench. Cody Williams, the 10th overall pick in the NBA Draft, was 0 for 8 from the field and scored just two points.

George made 9 of 15 shots from the floor, and was 11 of 12 from the free throw line.

“This is the last game of the Salt Lake Summer League, and while I’ve been here before, most guys haven’t, and I wanted to go out on a good note,” George said. “We wanted to go into Vegas with some momentum.”

Second round pick Kyle Filipowski had two points, two steals and five rebounds for the Jazz.

The Jazz will tip off the Las Vegas Summer League Saturday against Dallas at 8:30 p.m.
