Kerby Joseph fights Malik Nabers at Detroit Lions-New York Giants joint practice

The Detroit Lions and New York Giants got into another big dust-up in Tuesday's joint practice in East Rutherford, N.J.

Lions safety Kerby Joseph threw multiple punches at Giants rookie receiver Malik Nabers, after Nabers pushed Joseph in the helmet on his way back to the offensive side following a one-on-one fade attempt against cornerback Terrion Arnold that was knocked incomplete. Joseph responded with big swings to Nabers' helmet that sparked a full scuffle between the New York offense and Detroit defense that players and coaches eventually broke up.

The shoving matches have been a prominent part of the two days of joint practices with the Giants. Practice was stopped countless times Monday because blood got too hot between the Lions and Giants, leading to plenty of scrums. Nabers, the sixth overall pick of the 2024 draft, told New York media Joseph said something to him he chose not to share, and the fight was "just football at the end of the day."

This is the second straight year the Lions have conducted preseason joint practices with the Giants given the relationship between Lions coach Dan Campbell and Giants coach Brian Daboll. Campbell said he was looking forward to a physical practice with another team to test themselves, but said on Tuesday the fights Monday were "too much" to run a quality practice.

The Lions will have a walkthrough Wednesday ahead of their first preseason game against the Giants on the road on Thursday (7 p.m., Fox in Detroit).
