Kansas basketball’s Parker Braun to compete in NBA summer league with Denver Nuggets

LAWRENCE — Another member of Kansas basketball’s 2023-24 squad has a chance with an NBA organization, as Parker Braun will head to the summer league with the Denver Nuggets.

Denver, which announced its roster Sunday, will be in Las Vegas for a run of games that start Friday. It’s a reunion of sorts for Braun, at least with the Nuggets’ organization, as Denver drafted Braun’s brother Christian back in 2022. Christian, who won a national championship with KU in 2022 and a NBA title with the Nuggets in 2023, has established himself there and is not on the summer league roster.

Braun spent just one season at Kansas, the 2023-24 campaign, after a college career that started at Missouri and took him to Santa Clara — before he arrived at KU. With the Jayhawks, Braun appeared in 34 games and averaged 7.5 minutes per contest. He also averaged 2.2 points and 1.6 rebounds per game.

Braun, who wasn’t drafted, joins Johnny Furphy and Kevin McCullar Jr. as players from the 2023-24 team that have opportunities in the NBA after this past season. Furphy, a second round selection in the NBA draft, is with the Indiana Pacers. McCullar, also a second round selection, is with the New York Knicks.
