Jordan Travis returns for FSU Pro Day eyeing a comeback in time for NFL Draft

For the first time since the North Alabama game Nov. 18, 2023 — a span of more than 120 days — former Florida State quarterback Jordan Travis is throwing a football.

It's a big moment for him after suffering a season-ending left leg injury.

And, adding to his excitement, he has returned to Tallahassee for FSU's Pro Day Friday.

"I feel good and my body feels good. I'm happy to be back and seeing the guys again," Travis said. "It's just a blessing and I'm getting better every day."

Travis' injury has greatly impacted his draft status.

He traveled to Indianapolis for the NFL Combine with 11 other teammates, speaking to teams and showing them what kind of player he is off the field.

Travis didn't participate in any drills but focused on establishing relationships with scouts.

"It's God's plan and that's how I look at everything," Travis said. "Every day I wake up, and it's an opportunity to show who I am. I wouldn't change how I have these conversations, even if I was healthy.

"I want to show these teams what I know and who I am as a person because that is very important."

The mental aspect of his game is something Travis believes is a high point and wants to sell to NFL teams.

Creativity is a quality many of FSU players, fans and even opponents remember Travis for during his time as a Seminole.

"We [Travis and scouts] watched a lot of film. We'll watch games from the past and wonder what I did there when I see protections and going through coverages," Travis said. "Throughout my years here protection is the main thing I've learned.

"That was the most important thing because it's important in the NFL to get to protect yourself first or the play isn't going to happen."

While Travis hasn't participated in any combine drills and is only planning to get his height and weight measured at Pro Day, teams are still interested.

He said he met with the Las Vegas Raiders and plans to meet with the New York Jets in a few weeks.

Travis was grateful for the opportunity to attend the combine.

"I mean, you're living out your dream," Travis said. "Saturday, I woke up and got to put that gear on and I felt like a little kid again. Being around 11 other guys on our team was a blessing for sure."

"Just seeing the smiles on their faces and them living out their dreams."

Travis doesn't have a specific date for when he'll return, but he hopes to be ready by April. When he started rehabbing his left leg, he said he didn't want a timeframe and wanted to take things at his own pace.

"Moving around the other day, I just felt good," Travis said. "In the training room, I'm moving pretty good. I think I'll be able to do it sometime in April at some point.

"I think that's a great way just to go out and show teams I'm getting better every single day."

Getting back to 100% in time for the NFL Draft on April 25 is the main focus for Travis. But while he's in Tallahassee he's making sure that he's offering insight to FSU's current quarterback room.

He talks to Brock Glenn every day and emphasizes how important these spring reps are in competing for playing time in the fall.

"That room is gonna be really special. There's talent across the board, from top to bottom," Travis said. "I look forward to seeing them compete. That's the main thing I tell Brock [Glenn] every single day."

"It's a competition. There's nothing given at this program at all."
