Jordan Travis sheds boot, updates injury timeline with smile at NFL Combine
Two things were noticeable about Florida State football quarterback Jordan Travis when he walked into the NFL Combine Friday for interviews in Indianapolis.
He was no longer sporting a boot on his injured leg and walked in with a big smile, as usual.
Travis, who saw his college football career end to a devastating leg injury against North Alabama on Nov. 18, took part in Senior Bowl activities, even though he was unable to get on the field.
"At this point, I am taking it day by day," Travis told the media in attendance Friday. "I got out of my boot about a week ago, so it's pretty special. I am so thankful to wake up every single day and look down at my shoes. I am so grateful, it's been a journey for sure and my family has helped me get through it.
"I should be ready by May, June. That's my goal. I am ready for it."
He is in full preparation for the 2024 NFL Draft.
Travis said all knows about the injury is that "I fractured my leg."
Travis will participate in the general medical exam on Friday, an ortho exam, and the media interviews. He will also meet with teams and the NFLPA Interviews On Saturday, he will take part in measurements. He's unlikely to take part in the on-field tests.
“The first question they ask is if I’m going to be healthy, that’s obviously the first thing, and I’m going to be healthy. 100 percent. Travis said.
Travis was asked about FSU's historic snub from the College Football Playoffs following his injury and the team's perfect season. The College Football Playoff Committee said they factored in his injury when leaving the Seminoles out for a pair of one-loss teams.
The former FSU star pointed out the great weeks from players at the combine - including defensive lineman Braden Fiske and edge Jared Verse - as proof the committee got it wrong.
“It sucks. It does suck,” Travis said of the snub. “But at the end of the day, you have to control what you can control. I’ve learned that throughout my life and my career.
"…I mean, this Florida State team was really special and I think we’re seeing that at the Combine, here with the athletes and just the people we have on the field. But you can’t control that, so we’ve got to move past that and I look forward to seeing Florida State win a lot of football games this year.”
