Jordan Chiles won Olympic bronze for her floor routine in dramatic fashion after Team USA's inquiry
A highly successful trip to the 2024 Olympics wrapped on Monday morning for the U.S. gymnastics squad as Simone Biles and Jordan Chiles added a silver and bronze to the collection, respectively, for the floor exercise final.
It wasn't without drama, however, as Chiles was originally left off the podium. The judges awarded the American gymnast a 13.666 score that put her in fifth place. Immediately, the U.S. coaches looked shocked and submitted an inquiry to look into the scoring used.
Upon review, it was determined that the judges missed a skill that Chiles performed, and that difference was enough to bump her up one tenth of a point, which put her into third place on the apparatus. As excitement took over for the Americans and Chiles, heartbreak was felt by Romania's Ana Bărbosu who fell off the podium as a result.
