Johni Broome injury update: How banged up was Auburn basketball star after Yale loss?
SPOKANE, Wash. — No. 4 Auburn basketball fell to No. 13 Yale in the NCAA Tournament on Sunday, and consensus All-American big man Johni Broome was down on the floor holding his right knee after the final buzzer sounded.
Broome, who was excellent against the Bulldogs to the tune of 24 points and 13 rebounds, got up off the floor after members of the Auburn staff briefly tended to him. Broome's parents also made their way from the stands and onto the court to check on him.
The fourth-year center was walking around the bowels of Spokane Arena postgame and was present in the locker room, though he declined to comment on either the game or his injury. He had no wrap or brace on his knee and he was not getting treatment from a trainer when reporters were present.

"I don't know," coach Bruce Pearl said when asked if Broome was OK. "He got tangled up pretty good there, didn't he?"
Pearl added: "Johni had a great year. Carried this team, particularly (on) the offensive end. (He) improved tremendously defensively. We rely on him a great deal."
Broome was named a consensus All-American on Wednesday. He's the second Auburn player, along with Jabari Smith in 2022, to receive the honor in program history.
