Isaiah Collier drafted by Jazz with 29th pick

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4 Sports) – The Utah Jazz continued to follow their first round trend, drafting their fifth 19-year-old in the first round in the last two years with the selection of USC guard Isaiah Collier with the 29th overall pick in the NBA Draft Wednesday night.

Rated as the #1 high school player in the country in 2023, Collier played one season for the Trojans, averaging 16.1 points, 2.9 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game.

Collier was projected to be a top-10 pick earlier this season, but fell to 29. He’s eager to prove teams that passed on him wrong.

“I just want to show that I’m one of the best players in in the draft,” Collier said. “For me it’s just competing from day one, pushing my teammates and just making everybody better around me. I want to be a good person on and off the court.”

Collier is a 6-3, 205-pound guard that made 49 percent of his shots from the field, and 34 percent from three-point range.

Collier became close with Jazz guard Keyonte George last year.

Jazz have many options on NBA draft night

“That was great for sure,” Collier said. “Just being around him, seeing him get better every single day. Just seeing the young team Utah has, I’m just looking forward to gelling with the guys and getting better.”

The Jazz have one more selection in the NBA Draft. They will have the second pick of the second round on Thursday.
