International soccer star announces Miami Dolphins NFL Draft pick live from Spain
The Miami Dolphins' sixth-round pick in the NFL Draft was introduced by an international soccer star.
Fernando Torres, a former World Cup champion striker with Spain, announced the Dolphins' selection of Virginia wide receiver Malik Washington on Saturday afternoon in the sixth round of the NFL Draft.
Donning gear from his former club Atletico Madrid, Torres broadcast the pick from Madrid, Spain as part of the NFL Network's live broadcast from Detroit.
Torres, 40, currently serves as a coach after his retirement as a player following the 2019 season. He started games at forward during Spain's run to the 2010 World Cup title and won the Champions League with Chelsea in 2012.
Washington was the Dolphins third pick of the draft's third day and the franchise had two more scheduled in the sixth and seventh rounds.
