Indiana Fever to pick eighth in 2025 WNBA draft

INDIANAPOLIS -- For the first time in eight years, the Indiana Fever will not have to wait to know its draft position.

The 2025 WNBA draft will be the first time since the 2018 draft the Fever are not in the lottery, which is between the four teams that didn't make the playoffs the previous season. Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas and Washington will be in the lottery in 2025, with L.A. holding the top odds of 44% for the No. 1 pick. The odds for the No. 1 pick are based on the teams' records in the past two seasons.

Indiana got the No. 1 pick in 2023 and 2024, selecting Aliyah Boston and Caitlin Clark, respectively. Boston and Clark went on to become the Rookie of the Year, helping the Fever improve to a playoff berth this season for the first time since 2016.

Following the lottery teams, the draft goes in the reverse order of record.

There was one wrinkle in the 2025 draft: the Golden State expansion team. The WNBA announced Thursday ahead of the finals that Golden State, following its expansion draft in December, will select fifth in the college draft — after the lottery teams.

So, with a sixth-place finish in 2024, Indiana will officially select eighth.

As of now, Indiana does not have any stipulations (pick swap or traded pick) for its first-round pick in 2025. That could change ahead of April if Indiana decides to make any trades.
