It's official. Indiana Fever select Caitlin Clark with No. 1 pick in 2024 WNBA draft.

BROOKLYN — What's been long anticipated finally became official Monday night: Caitlin Clark is a part of the Indiana Fever.

The Fever selected the Iowa superstar with the No. 1 overall pick in the WNBA draft at the Brooklyn Academy of Music on Monday night, cementing Indiana's second-straight top pick.

“I got a little anxious there before the pick," Clark told ESPN's Holly Rowe after the selection.

Clark, a two-time National Player of the Year, will join 2023 No. 1 pick Aliyah Boston, 2022 No. 2 pick NaLyssa Smith, and 2018 No. 2 pick Kelsey Mitchell in a Fever uniform this summer. The Fever, who went 13-27 in 2023, should have a good chance to end their seven-year playoff drought with those four leading the way.

More: Caitlin Clark is 'the biggest star in sports right now.' And she's coming to Indiana.

The West Des Moines, Iowa, native was a five-star recruit that chose Iowa over the likes of Notre Dame, Iowa State, Oregon, Texas and Duke. She was an immediate add to the Hawkeyes' starting lineup and did not miss a game over her four seasons in an Iowa uniform.

Over 139 games in her career, Clark scored a total of 3,951 points, 990 rebounds and 1,144 assists. She is the NCAA Division I all-time leading scorer, passing both former Washington and current Las Vegas Aces guard Kelsey Plum's record of 3,527 points and former LSU player Pete Maravich's record of 3,667 points. Maravich's record stood for over 50 years.

She made 548 3-pointers, including a single-season NCAA-record 196 in 2023-24, breaking Steph Curry's Davidson record from 2008.

Clark, who is the most recognizable college basketball player in the country right now, is already helping the Fever's resurgence. Indiana has 36 of its 40 games on national TV this year — the most in the league and up from one during the 2023 season.

"I'm excited to get to Indianapolis," Clark told Rowe. "You gotta buy your ticket now, it’s going to be a hot ticket.”
