Illinois high school football state rankings: Peoria-area schools in poll for Week 3

The first statewide rankings from The Associated Press were released Wednesday afternoon, putting four Peoria-area football teams among the top 10 of their respective classes through two weeks.

Class 2A Farmington (2-0) and Class 3A Princeton (2-0) were the highest ranked area squads, both coming in at No. 3. Stark County is ranked No. 8 in Class 1A, while Dunlap is ninth-ranked in Class 6A as the Illinois High School Association season heads into Week 3.

Among the other local teams receiving votes include Peoria High (Class 5A), Metamora (Class 5A), East Peoria (Class 5A), Macomb (Class 4A), Monmouth-Roseville (Class 3A), Olympia (Class 3A), Eureka (Class 3A), Knoxville (Class 2A), El Paso-Gridley (Class 2A), Abingdon-Avon (Class 1A), Princeville (Class 1A) and ROWVA/Williamsfield (Class 1A).

The respective No. 1s in each of the eight classes include: Lincoln-Way East (Class 8A), Chicago Mt. Carmel (Class 7A), Cary-Grove (Class 6A), LaGrange Park Nazareth (Class 5A), Rochester (Class 4A), Byron (Class 3A), Maroa-Forsyth (Class 2A) and Hardin Calhoun (Class 1A).
