IHSAA basketball All-City team: Attucks' Dezmon Briscoe repeats as City Player of the Year
City basketball tournament champion Crispus Attucks swept the awards with junior Dezmon Briscoe taking City Player of the Year honors and Chris Hawkins winning Coach of the Year by a vote of coaches from the City Alliance.
The 6-8 Briscoe, who shared Player of the Year last year with Cathedral’s Xavier Booker, now a freshman at Michigan State, is averaging 14.0 points, 10.7 rebounds and 4.1 blocked shots this season for Attucks, which won the City tournament for a second consecutive year. Briscoe has offers from Ball State, Butler, Cincinnati, Iowa and Valparaiso, among others.

Hawkins is the City Coach of the Year for a second consecutive season. The Tigers are 18-6 going into Wednesday’s Class 4A Sectional 10 first-round game against Tech at Lawrence North. Hawkins is 151-56 overall in eight seasons at Attucks with a Class 3A state title in 2017.
