Hope Solo gave two special guests their first social media caps this week. The former U.S. Soccer goalkeeper announced the birth of her twins months after sharing news of her pregnancy.

Vittorio Genghis and Lozen Orianna Judith were born March 4, Solo said, and they’ve been staying in the neonatal intensive care unit.

Solo introduced her children in a video for Uninterrupted, noting they’ve been “incredibly busy” during their quarantine. The twins were born a little over a week before the sports world was halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic and have only known a world in which the coronavirus is a threat.

Solo, 38, announced her pregnancy in mid-December while co-hosing a beIN Sports show. She joked that a “miniature soccer team” was on the way and she and husband Jerramy Stevens, a former NFL tight end, would get to practice equality from the start with a boy and a girl.

Earlier in 2019, Solo revealed she had had a miscarriage while running for president of the United States Soccer Federation. A week after the miscarriage and still experiencing pain, she learned it was twins and one was ectopic. Solo told Elle Magazine the doctor told her she was “hours from dying” and had to have her fallopian tube removed. The couple began IVF to try again.
