Nashville Predators' Filip Forsberg named NHL All-Star for the second time
Moments after he was named to his second NHL All-Star team, Nashville Predators forward Filip Forsberg scored his 19th goal of the season Thursday against the Calgary Flames.
Forsberg leads the Predators in goals (19) and assists (24). It will be his second All-Star game. His first was in 2015.
The NHL's hockey operations department selected 32 players, one from each team. The remaining 12 players will be decided via online fan vote.
Four teams of 11 players will make up the field. Teams will be decided by a draft format on Feb. 1 in Toronto, where the All-Star festivities are being held Feb. 1-3.
The Predators' social media accounts Thursday pushed Roman Josi, Ryan O'Reilly, Juuse Saros and defenseman Ryan McDonagh for fan voting, which can be done on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Here are voting guidelines, via the NHL.
Each fan post must include the complete hashtag “#NHLAllStarVote” and a player’s full name, a player’s X handle or by tagging the player’s X handle. Referencing only a last name will not count.
Each fan must have an active and public X account.
Types of eligible X posts: stand-alone posts, reposts, reply posts, quote posts.
Voting ends at 11:59:59 (ET) on Jan. 11.
Among those who will join Forsberg in Toronto are the Chicago Blackhawks rookie and No. 1 overall pick at the 2023 NHL Draft, Connor Bedard, and the Edmonton Oilers' Connor McDavid.
The skills competition will be held Feb. 2; the games will be played Feb. 3.
Forsberg is on pace to set the franchise record for points in a season (96), set by Josi in 2021-22.
He already is the franchise's all-time leading goal scorer with 258.
