Here's why Zach Sieler is No. 10 on our Dolphins' Top 20 players countdown

Zach Sieler had a career-high 10 sacks for the Miami Dolphins in 2023.

That's third in the NFL in sacks among defensive tackles, and one more than his very rich former teammate, Christian Wilkins.

Sieler, 28, has been one of the most underrated defensive players in the NFL for the past three seasons.

Why Zach Sieler is No. 10

The Dolphins signing Sieler away from Baltimore in 2019 was genius by general manager Chris Grier and his scouting staff.

A former seventh-rounder, Sieler has dramatically exceeded all expectations.

Sieler is a relentless rusher and is very sturdy against the run.

Telling stat

77.4: Percentage of snaps Sieler played in 2023, which is very high for a lineman.

How we see Zach Sieler's future

Sieler is about to begin a 3-year, $30.75 million contract that is a good value for the club.

The departure of Wilkins to Las Vegas will increase attention and pressure on Sieler, but he should be up for the task. He is strong and quick and has a high motor and very good technique.

Sieler began his career in Baltimore, so there is a familiarity with the system Miami is installing.

Defensive Anthony Weaver helped Ravens defensive tackle Justin Madubuike record 13 sacks last season. That led all NFL defensive tackles in sacks.

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo (10) is sacked by Miami Dolphins defensive end Zach Sieler (92) during the first quarter at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California, on Sunday, Oct. 11, 2020.
