Here's why Joe Burrow isn't throwing at Bengals training camp practice today
Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow won't be throwing at Friday's training camp practice.
That's by design.
Burrow and Bengals head coach Zac Taylor both explained the training camp plan during press conferences this week.
"We're going to play it by ear," Burrow said at his Wednesday press conference. "We don't really plan on practicing more than two days in a row beyond this first chunk. We're going to play that third day by ear for the next week and then after that I plan on going every day."
Taylor reiterated the plan Thursday after training camp practice.
"Tomorrow, Joe won't throw," Taylor said. "That was pre-planned."
Burrow missed the final seven games of the 2023 season with a right wrist injury that required surgery in November. He's since been cleared for contact.
Zac Taylor said he’s comfortable with his plan and communication with Ja’Marr Chase but wouldn’t comment specifically on if he expects him to participate in camp at some point and if this is contract related pic.twitter.com/JTs53U0PL4

Bengals wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase has been at practice, but is yet to participate in any on-field action. Chase, entering his fourth year in the NFL, is eligible for a new contract and the Bengals picked up his fifth-year option in April.
