Here's how much Clemson football is paying its non-conference home opponents in 2024

CLEMSON — It will be a seven-figure price tag for Clemson as its football program hosts three non-conference opponents this season at Memorial Stadium.

The non-ACC opponents are Appalachian State on Sept. 7, The Citadel on Nov. 23 and rival South Carolina on Nov. 30.

Last season, Clemson paid a total of $1.6 million after hosting two non-ACC opponents. Charleston Southern received $400,000, and Florida Atlantic secured $1.2 million.

The Tigers will also take on Georgia on Aug. 31 (noon ET, ABC) in the Peach Bowl's Aflac kickoff game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.

Here's how much No. 14 Clemson is receiving from facing No. 1 Georgia and is paying to their non-conference home opponents in 2024, according to game contracts obtained by The Greenville News via open records requests.

Aug. 31: Georgia (neutral)

This will be the highest-ranked Week 1 matchup, and the game has sold out. The Peach Bowl, Clemson and Georgia executed this game agreement in August 2018.

The organization will pay $5 million to each school by Nov. 15, 2024, for participating.

Each school will receive 70 complementary bench passes and 32 suite tickets for the game. Both also will have 200 complimentary tickets to the College Football Hall of Fame on Aug. 30.

Sept. 7: Appalachian State

Clemson and App State entered this agreement in January 2018. This will be the sixth game between these schools with the latest occurring in 2015, when the Tigers won 41-10 at Memorial Stadium.

Clemson will pay $1.25 million to App State by Feb. 15, 2025, for facing it this season. The Mountaineers also will be allotted 2,300 complimentary tickets.

Nov. 23: Citadel

Clemson and The Citadel entered this agreement in June 2017. This will be the 40th matchup between both schools with their first happening in 1909. The Tigers won 49-0 in their most recent game in 2020.

Clemson will pay $475,000 to The Citadel by Feb. 15, 2025, for facing it this season, and the teams will play again in 2028.

The Bulldogs will be allotted 300 complimentary tickets. They had the option to request up to 2,000 more by Feb. 1, and unsold tickets could be returned to Clemson by May 1.

The Citadel will receive at minimum 60 team bench area passes, 16 all-access passes, eight coaches' booth passes and six team/coach video passes.

Nov. 30: South Carolina

Clemson and South Carolina entered this agreement on Oct. 5, 2023. This rivalry dates back to 1896, and the Tigers won 16-7 in last year's matchup. They faced each other for 111 consecutive years from 1909-2019, but the streak was snapped due to the 2020 pandemic.

Clemson will pay South Carolina $0 since they play each other annually and alternate locations between Memorial Stadium and Williams-Brice Stadium.

South Carolina will receive no complimentary tickets but was allocated up to 7,000 tickets for sale (including 1,500 in the lower deck of Memorial Stadium) if requested by Feb. 1.
