Harrison Ingram has chance to team up with NBA star

It took a few picks in the second round but former North Carolina Tar Heels standout Harrison Ingram finally heard his name called in the 2024 NBA draft.

At pick No. 48 overall, the San Antonio Spurs officially selected Ingram, taking him off the board. This means Ingram will get the chance to team up with the rising star and 2023 No. 1 overall pick Victor Wembanyama.

Ingram’s stock was projected to be in the second round for most of the NBA draft process as he met with several teams. In the end, it was the Spurs that gave him the opportunity to pursue his NBA dream.

After two seasons with Stanford including winning the Pac-12 Freshman of the Year award, Ingram transferred to North Carolina. He earned a starting spot right away for the Tar Heels and was a key player in their ACC regular season title run.

He averaged 12.2 points, and 8.8 rebounds per game for the Tar Heels but saw that average increase in ACC play. During conference play, Ingram averaged 10.9 rebounds per game.

Ingram is the 118th player to be taken in the NBA draft out of UNC. He’s the first draft pick since 2021 as the Phoenix Suns took Day’Ron Sharpe at No. 29 overall before trading him to Brooklyn.
