Larson finished 18th in the Indy 500 for Arrow McLaren as he prepared for the double. However, weather played havoc with his effort. Rain in Indianapolis delayed the Indy 500 start by 4 hours. Larson ran well, leading 4 laps, before committing a pit road speeding penalty.
