Memphis Grizzlies sign former Suns, Wizards guard Jordan Goodwin to 10-day contract

The Memphis Grizzlies on Tuesday signed guard Jordan Goodwin to a 10-day contract.

Goodwin was recently with the Phoenix Suns but was waived after he was traded to the Brooklyn Nets as part of a three-team trade that involved the Grizzlies on trade deadline day. He's averaging five points per game this season.

The Grizzlies have cycled through a few players on 10-day contracts in the past couple of weeks. Matthew Hurt, Tosan Evbuomwan and Trey Jemison had their contracts expire near the end of last week. Jemison was signed to a two-way deal after GG Jackson's two-way contract was converted to a standard contract last week.

Memphis has been in need of bodies because it has dealt with so many injuries this season. That situation has slightly improved as most players without long-term injuries have returned, but Ja Morant, Desmond Bane and Marcus Smart have been out for extended periods of time. Morant is out for the season.

Goodwin will give the Grizzlies depth at a point guard spot that currently features a pair of two-way players in Scotty Pippen Jr. and Jacob Gilyard. Derrick Rose has been in and out of the lineup because of injuries the past few weeks.

Before going to Phoenix, Goodwin played with the Capital City Go-Go of the NBA G League and then with the Washington Wizards.
