Grizzlies' GG Jackson shining on national TV again: 'TNT brings out the best in him!'
GG Jackson just loves playing on national television.
He scored a then-career high 23 points against the Warriors on TNT on MLK Day and started fast on Thursday night against the Bucks. He tallied 19 points in the first half and helped the Grizzlies go into the break tied with the Bucks, who entered FedExForum as 14-point favorites.
"TNT brings out the best in him!" host Ernie Johnson said during the halftime show.
"If we just put GG on TNT, he'd be the highest-paid player in the league," Charles Barkley added.
The crew then went through the first-half highlights, many of which featured Jackson and his 19 points.
Jackson has been the standout player for the Grizzlies over the past few weeks. He started the season on a two-way contract but had to play a bigger and bigger role for the Grizzlies because of injuries to other key players, and — along with Vince Williams Jr. — he's been the breakout player for Memphis this season.
With Jaren Jackson Jr. out on Thursday night, GG Jackson is Memphis' top scoring option. Even though he came off the bench and played 15 minutes, he led all scorers with 19 at the half.
