Grizzlies add former Memphis Tigers forward D.J. Jeffries to summer league roster

D.J. Jeffries is headed to NBA summer league with the Memphis Grizzlies, his hometown team.

Jeffries' agent, Kev Martin (of JCK Sports Group), posted the news Sunday aftenoon on Instagram.

The former Olive Branch (Mississippi) star and Memphis Tigers player, who finished his career at Mississippi State, is a 6-foot-7 wing. He is expected to be joined in Utah (July 8-10) and Las Vegas (July 12-22) by GG Jackson and Trey Jemison, along with Scotty Pippen Jr., currently on a two-way contract.

Zach Edey, the Grizzlies' first-round NBA draft pick last week, was on the preliminary Team Canada roster but will skip the Olympics to take part in summer league play. Jaylen Wells and Cam Spencer, both drafted in the second round, also are expected to be on the summer league roster.

In two seasons under coach Penny Hardaway at Memphis, Jeffries averaged 10.3 points and 4.8 rebounds. After transferring to Mississippi State, he played three seasons for Ben Howland and Chris Jans, where he averaged 8.0 points and 5.4 rebounds.
