Grading Kansas football on its 38-27 loss vs TCU: Jayhawks woes continue
KANSAS CITY, Missouri — Kansas football lost 38-27 on Saturday at home against TCU in Big 12 Conference play.
Kansas football vs TCU recap: Jayhawks lose their 4th-straight game
Here’s a look at how the Jayhawks (1-4, 0-2 in Big 12) graded out from their defeat against TCU (3-2, 1-1 in Big 12):
Offense: Kansas relies on running game
Kansas didn’t do much in the passing game, and didn’t run the ball well enough to make up for that even though they finished with 167 yards on the ground. Redshirt junior quarterback Jalon Daniels finished with 179 yards passing on 15-for-34 throwing with one touchdown. Daniels also had another interception.
Grade: D
Defense: Kansas forces trio of turnovers
Kansas came away with three turnovers, with a fumble caused by senior cornerback Cobee Bryant that was picked up by redshirt senior defensive end Dylan Wudke, an interception from senior safety O.J. Burroughs and an interception from senior cornerback Mello Dotson. Those takeaways led to 10 points for the Jayhawks but they weren’t enough, as TCU was still able to have more than enough success — especially through the air — to win this one.
Grade: C-
Special teams: Trevor Wilson has quality returns
Redshirt senior wide receiver Trevor Wilson had some quality returns against TCU, including one brought back by a holding penalty. Senior kicker Tabor Allen didn’t miss. TCU also missed a field goal, but did return a punt for a touchdown.
Grade: B
Coaching: Kansas falls short, again
The losing streak isn’t over for Kansas. The Jayhawks still need to figure out a way to end first halves better than they have been. They still need to find ways to play better in fourth quarters so they are able to close out games.

Overall grade: D
