Kansas football vs TCU recap: Jayhawks lose their 4th-straight game

KANSAS CITY, Missouri — Kansas football lost its fourth-straight game on Saturday, this time 38-27 at Arrowhead Stadium against TCU.
The Jayhawks had their moments of success against the Horned Frogs. But head coach Lance Leipold's squad couldn't maintain its grasp of the momentum in this one. TCU was able to coast to a win in the fourth quarter.

Here's what happened:
FINAL: TCU 38, Kansas 27
5:38 p.m. (CT): TCU adds a field goal
TCU now leads 38-27 with 3:02 remaining in the fourth quarter. The Horned Frogs connected on a 29-yard field goal. The drive took 6:10 off of the clock and went 57 yards in 12 plays.
5:20 p.m. (CT): TCU adds another touchdown
TCU now leads 35-27 after a touchdown drive and ensuing extra point. There's 11:19 left, after Horned Frogs quarterback Josh Hoover found wide receiver Eric McAlister for a 59-yard touchdown pass. The drive took 0:47 off of the clock and went 75 yards in two plays.
5:17 p.m. (CT): Kansas settles for field goal
Kansas now trails 28-27 with 12:07 left in the fourth quarter. Kicker Tabor Allen made a 41-yard field goal. The drive took 4:35 off of the clock and went 42 yards in 10 plays.

5:00 p.m. (CT): TCU returns punt for touchdown
TCU leads again. It's 28-24 with 1:46 left in the third quarter. The Horned Frogs saw wide receiver JP Richardson return a punt 89 yards for a score.
4:56 p.m. (CT): TCU misses field goal
In a quarter TCU had another turnover, the Horned Frogs just missed a field goal. With 3:56 left in the quarter, Kansas takes over at 1st and 10 at its own 24 yard line. The Jayhawks lead 24-21.
4:32 p.m. (CT): Kansas drives for a score
Kansas is back in the lead, 24-21 with 8:57 left in the third quarter, after a scoring drive and extra point. Running back Daniel Hishaw Jr. finished it off with an eight-yard touchdown run. The drive went 75 yards in 11 plays and took 6:02 off of the clock.

3:55 pm. (CT): TCU scores late in 2nd quarter
TCU drove for a late score in the second quarter, adding a touchdown with 0:12 left before halftime. After the extra point, it's a 21-17 lead for TCU. Quarterback Josh Hoover found wide receiver Jack Bech for a seven-yard touchdown to end an 11-play, 75-yard drive that took 2:40 of of the clock.
3:45 p.m. (CT): Kansas hits a field goal
Kansas didn't move the ball at all on a four-play drive that took 0:56 off of the clock, but because of great field position were able to still take a lead. Kicker Tabor Allen connected on a 24-yard field goal to take a 17-14 lead with 2:57 left in the second quarter. The drive began after Jayhawks safety O.J. Burroughs intercepted a TCU pass.
3:15 p.m. (CT): TCU ties it again
TCU scored on a three-yard rushing touchdown by running back Cam Cook. After the extra point, it's a 14-14 game with 14:01 left in the second quarter. The drive took 5:10 off of the clock and went 75 yards in 12 plays.

3:00 p.m. (CT): Kansas drives for another touchdown
Running back Devin Neal scored from two yards out to give Kansas the lead back, and after the extra point the Jayhawks are up 14-7 with 4:09 left in the first quarter. The drive went 71 yards in 10 plays and took 4:25 off of the clock. Kansas is running the ball well against TCU.
2:50 p.m. (CT): TCU ties it up
TCU marched down the field to tie the score at 7-7 with 8:29 left in the first quarter, after a touchdown and extra point. Quarterback Josh Hoover found wide receiver Jack Bech for a 35-yard touchdown pass. The drive took 1:47 off of the clock and went 92 yards in five plays.
2:40 p.m. (CT): Kansas football opens scoring
Quarterback Jalon Daniels found wide receiver Luke Grimm for a 15-yard touchdown pass to open the scoring. The drive went 54 yards in four plays and took 2:02 off of the clock. After the extra point, Kansas leads 7-0 with 10:22 left in the first quarter.
Kansas football forces turnover on opening drive
Kansas saw cornerback Cobee Bryant force a fumble on TCU's opening drive, and defensive end Dylan Wudke recovered it. The Jayhawks took over with 12:20 left in the first quarter, and the score tied 0-0. They have great field position at their own 46 yard line.
