FSU football adds 4-star athlete Amaree Williams to recruiting Class of 2024

The Benjamin School wide receiver and defensive back Amaree Williams warms up before game against Cardinal Newman in their regional semifinal playoff football game in West Palm Beach on November 17, 2023.

Palm Beach County has been good to Florida State football.

The Seminoles have landed their fourth Class of 2024 commitment from the South Florida county, as 4-star athlete Amaree Williams committed to FSU on Saturday, adding more depth to its talent-heavy '24 class.

“It's amazing. It’s just a dream come true to play at a big school like that and I'm just waiting to get on campus,” an emotional Williams said.

He is committed to FSU as an athlete and will put pen to paper on his decision on Wednesday.

Williams, a native of North Palm Beach who attends The Benjamin School, is the No. 27 ranked player in the state's Class of 2024 and the No. 6 athlete in the class nationally. He was originally a part of the Class of 2025 but reclassified to 2024 in early December.

“I’m going in a little young, but I feel like with what I have, a team of people behind me, like, I feel like they prepared me to go to the next level and reclass like I did,” Williams said.

The 6-foot-4, 215-pound junior played at wide receiver and defensive end this past season. Williams, whose recruitment took off as an edge, was excited to share the “plot twist” surrounding his position with the media.

“I mean, I could still play on both sides of the field,” Williams said. “Coach Norvell, he has a plan for me, and I'm gonna mold into the type of player I am, so you know, he's gonna leave the box open for offense and defense.”

Williams has already sparked up a relationship with FSU quarterback transfer DJ Uiagalelei.

“When I went on my official, he [Uiagalelei] was there, so he talked to me and he's been telling me, ‘We’re all ready, come on.” I mean, that's a dog right there, so being on the same side as him, for me, that's big,” Williams said.

When asked if he was more unguardable or more unblockable, Williams thought for a second and landed on “both.” The proof is in the production.

On the offensive side of the ball, he recorded 424 yards receiving on 16 receptions and seven touchdowns. On defense, he had 34 tackles, four sacks, two fumble recoveries and an interception.

Williams joins a flock of Palm Beach natives that have committed to FSU this year which include linebacker Jayden Parrish (Delray Beach Atlantic), athlete Ricky Knight III (West Palm Beach Cardinal Newman) and kicker Jake Weinberg (Delray Beach American Heritage).

“Jake, that’s that man. He’s always sending it in on social media. He’s always doing his thing. He’s doing stuff some college players can’t even do,” Williams said of Weinberg.

“They’re family,” Williams said. ”I grew up with Ricky, standing over there, so that's the guy. Just being able to play with them, I have people to go up with and I can't wait.”

That familial feeling is what drove Williams to pick the Seminoles.

“I believe solely on, like, actions rather than words. Even the whole time I was on my official, fans, families of all these coaches, you know, the kids, wives — that stuck out to me more than anything,” Williams recalled.

“I'm seeing how involved they have these players’ families and how involved they are in the actual players are …"

Former FSU QB Jordan Travis also attended The Benjamin School.

Williams is the fifth athlete to commit to FSU out of the Class of 2024 joining early enrollees 4-star BJ Gibson (Wilcox County, Ga.) and 4-star Lawayne McCoy (Miami Central, Fla.), and signees 4-star Micahi Danzy (Tallahassee Florida High, Fla.) and 4-star Ricky Knight III (Plam Beach Cardinal Newman, Fla.).
