Four-star 2024 athlete announces commitment to Florida State football over Miami
Florida State football added its second high school recruit to its 2024 class of the day Saturday when it landed four-star athlete Ricky Knight.
Knight, a 6-foot, 168-pounder out of Cardinal Newman High in West Palm Beach, committed to the Seminoles over the hometown Miami Hurricanes. He announced his decision live on 247Sports YouTube channel.
Illinois, which he visited earlier this month, Texas A&M, Penn State and Louisville made up his other offers.
He is the No. 402 athlete in the 2024 class, the 30th-ranked athlete and the 57th-ranked prospect in Florida, earning four stars on 247 Sports Composite rankings.
The No. 78 athlete in the class and the No. 86 prospect in the state of Florida, according to 247 Sports, committed following an official visit to Tallahassee June 16-18. He was on campus at Miami last weekend.
“It was definitely fun and I was able to learn a lot," Knight said following his visit to FSU. "I was able to see the dorms, meet the players, and learn a little more about the city. Coming up here is always fun and welcoming. I love it."
Kassim: Is high school recruiting an issue for Florida State football? Yes. And no.
Knight, who played both sides of the ball for Cardinal Newman, is being recruited by FSU as a defensive back.
He is the 13th member of the class for the Seminoles, which also includes five-star tight end Laden Thomas and four-star quarterback Luke Kromenhoek.
Three-star defensive lineman DD Holmes announced his commitment to the Seminoles earlier in the day.
Knight recorded 33 tackles and added an interception for the Cardinals on defense, while also adding four catches for 92 yards on offense.
He joins 4-star prospects Lawayne McCoy and BJ Gibson as athletes in the class. The Seminoles are also working on the recruitment of local Tallahassee product Micahi Danzy.
FSU is expected to have a busy month adding recruits in July.
