Four-star Class of 2025 athlete announces decommitment from Alabama football

Four-star athlete Zymear Smith, a member of the 2025 recruiting class, has decommitted from Alabama football, Smith announced on Wednesday.

The 5-foot-11, 170-pound Ridgley, Maryland, native had been committed to the Crimson Tide and Kalen DeBoer since March. Alabama's 2025 class ranks second in the nation per the 247Sports Composite and has 21 pledges following Smith's decommitment. It picked up two commitments on Wednesday in edge rusher Justin Hill and kicker Peter Notaro.

The 247Sports Composite has Smith tabbed as the No. 8 prospect in Maryland and the No. 12 athlete in the 2025 class. Nationally, he ranks as the No. 279 prospect.

Smith holds 19 offers, including Georgia, Texas and Tennessee.

He was listed as an athlete, and Alabama only has one current commitment at that position for the 2025 class: Myles Johnson out of T.R. Miller High School in Brewton. He's the No. 16-ranked player in Alabama in the class.
