Former Titans CB Sean Murphy-Bunting to sign with Arizona Cardinals
Cornerback Sean Murphy-Bunting won't be back for a second season with the Tennessee Titans after starting 14 games for the team in 2023.
Murphy-Bunting has agreed to a free agent deal with Arizona Cardinals, as he posted on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, and as originally reported by NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.
The five-year pro intercepted two passes, forced two fumbles and made 57 tackles in his one year with the Titans after playing four seasons for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Murphy-Bunting came to the Titans in free agency in 2023 after injuries limited him in his final two seasons in Tampa. Minor injuries kept him out of three games with the Titans but he avoided long-term injuries.
Cornerback is a huge need for the Titans. In addition to Murphy-Bunting, fellow starter Kristian Fulton becomes a free agent this week. Nickel corner Roger McCreary remains under contract, as does safety Amani Hooker, but other than those two, the team does not have a surplus of returning depth in the secondary.
The Titans have roughly $80 million available to spend against the salary cap this offseason. Running back Derrick Henry and quarterback Ryan Tannehill are among the Titans who became free agents this offseason.
Later Monday afternoon, free agents defensive lineman Denico Autry and linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair both reportedly agreed to deals with the Houston Texans.
