Before the college football season could even kick into gear, Florida State's season is effectively over.

FSU followed a stunning Week 0 loss to Georgia Tech as a double-digit favorite with an equally stunning Week 1 loss to Boston College as an even bigger favorite Monday night.

As a result, FSU's +2000 opening odds to win the 2024 national championship have tumbled all the way +30000 at BetMGM. With a path to make the playoff as a non-conference winner all but eliminated, FSU's odds to win the title went from tied for 10th at the start of the season to tied for 33rd Tuesday morning.

Though it's technically still possible for FSU to crack the new 12-team playoff field if other ACC teams stumble, it seems highly unlikely at this point.

No. 19 Miami's odds to win the conference are down to +170 after an impressive season-opening win over Florida. Six other teams also have better odds than FSU, which dropped from a league-best +300 to +3000.

To the credit of bettors, they were never really fooled by the FSU hype. Despite the team's leading odds, three teams received more bets and had more money wagered to win the ACC at BetMGM. That includes Miami, which led the way with 26.6% of tickets and 29.6% of the handle.

Twelve teams had more money on them to win the national championship.
