Five players Memphis Grizzlies could pick on Day 2 of 2024 NBA Draft, plus best available

The first day of the NBA Draft is in the books, but for the first time ever it'll extend into a second day.

Toronto will soon be on the clock for the first pick of the second round (3 p.m., ESPN), and then it won't be a long wait before the Grizzlies are up again. After taking Purdue's Zach Edey with the No. 9 pick on Wednesday, Memphis has the No. 39 and No. 57 picks in Thursday's second round.

Shooting was a need for the Grizzlies coming into the draft, especially with the uncertain future of Luke Kennard. That obviously wasn't addressed with the selection of Edey, so general manager Zach Kleiman could go after a proven shooter in Thursday's second round.

"I feel good about the board, but you'll have to stay tuned about what we might do tomorrow," Kleiman said.

There's still plenty of talent available. Here's a look at the top players still available, and whom the Grizzlies could target.

Kevin McCullar Jr., Kansas

McCullar was a highly productive player at Texas Tech and Kansas but suffered an injury that caused him to miss the NCAA Tournament. At 6-foot-7, 205 pounds, McCullar can guard multiple positions and averaged 18.3 points per game in 2023-24.

Johnny Furphy, Kansas

Furphy, McCullar's teammate at Kansas, played only one season in college and averaged nine points per game. Furphy shot 35% from three-point range last season. The 19-year-old could be a developmental prospect but is still the highest-ranked player on ESPN's board entering the second round.

Ulrich Chomche, C, NBA Academy Africa

The 6-10 forward from Cameroon didn't start playing basketball until he was 11, but he's an intriguing prospect who could go near the end of the second round. The Grizzlies could target him with No. 57.

Harrison Ingram, North Carolina

Ingram played two seasons at Stanford before transferring to North Carolina, then declared for the draft after a season in which he averaged 12.2 points and 8.8 rebounds per game. Ingram is a well-rounded playmaker who can guard multiple positions, but mock drafts have him going throughout the second round.

Cam Spencer, UConn

If the Grizzlies are looking for energy and shooting off the bench, they could do worse than Spencer. The forward averaged 14.3 points per game for the Huskies and shot 44 percent from beyond the arc. If shooting continues to be a need, Spencer could come into play.
