Five games to watch in Week Seven of PA high school football in Bucks County

Four games in which both teams are undefeated in conference or divisional play highlight the five games to watch in Week 7 of the 2024 high school football season in Bucks County and Eastern Montgomery County.

They are among the many interesting contests this weekend.

Here is a closer look at five of the games worth watching for Week Seven, plus the remainder of the weekend schedule:

North Penn (6-0) at Central Bucks South (6-0), Friday, 7:30 p.m.

The Knights and Titans are the only two unbeaten teams in the Suburban One League National Conference at 3-0. North Penn has outscored opponents 207-71 this season and CB South's differential is 105 points (157-52).

Junior fullback Aiden Ashley scored a pair of touchdowns for the Knights in last week's 42-21 win over Central Bucks East, with junior quarterback Matt Bucksar throwing TD passes to senior tight end Aidan Eves and junior receiver Mason Franek. Senior fullback Christian Johns-Wallace and senior running back Josiah Coleman added rushing touchdowns.

CB South outlasted Pennsbury 12-7 last week. Sophomore running backs Braylen Cape (17 carries for 107 yards) and Gavin Graham scored the Titans' touchdowns. Senior quarterback Owen Pinkerton finished with a game-high 142 rushing yards on 26 attempts.

Senior end Eddie Bowen had a team-high seven tackles as the CB South defense limited the Falcons to 48 yards of offense.

The two schools met with an SOL title on the line in 2007, when 9-0 CB South downed 8-1 North Penn to win the title outright.

A year ago, CB South and Central Bucks West were 8-0 going into a Week 9 showdown that the Bucks won.

Last meeting: won by CB South 50-28 in 2023

St. Joseph Prep (3-1) vs. La Salle (6-0), Saturday, 7 p.m. (at Upper Dublin)

The Explorers and Hawks are each 1-0 in the Philadelphia Catholic League Red Division, along with Bonner Prendergast.

La Salle has outscored opponents 224-43, including last week's 48-0 PCL Red victory over Cardinal O'Hara. Junior receiver John-Patrick Oates had a pair of touchdown catches (16 and 11 yards) from junior quarterback Gavin Sidwar, a Rutgers commit, vs. O'Hara. Sidwar finished 17 of 23 for 205 yards passing and three TDs.

Prep's three non-league games were against schools from three states. It dropped a 35-21 decision to St. Edward from Ohio in the season opener.

Prep, whose last loss to a Pennsylvania team was to Mount Lebanon in the 2021 Class 6A state title game, has won eight of the last 11 state championships. La Salle gave Prep its last regular-season loss by a PA school (28-21 on Oct. 2, 2021).

The teams will meet again in the District 12 6A title game later this season for a spot in the PIAA quarterfinals.

Last meeting: won by St. Joseph Prep 35-7 for the 2023 D12 championship.

Quakertown (3-3) at Upper Dublin (4-2), Friday, 7:30 p.m.

The Panthers and Cardinals are each 3-0 in the SOL Continental after beginning the season with difficult non-conference schedules. George Banas' team is averaging 39.7 points against conference foes and UD is averaging 33.7.

Quakertown defeated Council Rock North 35-7 last week behind junior quarterback Brady Martin's two touchdown passes to senior receiver Aiden Burgy (41 and 43 yards). Martin, who also had two interceptions, senior running back Gavin Carroll and senior running back Aiden Whiteley contributed rushing TDs.

Panthers' senior linebacker Gavin Mushrush, senior cornerback Matt Thomas and junior defensive end Emilio Olivares also made interceptions vs. CR North.

Upper Dublin junior Ron Shepherd scored a pair of touchdowns in last week's 35-0 victory over Harry S. Truman.

The Cardinals won the 2022 SOL Continental title, with the Panthers prevailing in '21. Souderton won the conference a year ago.

Last meeting: won by Quakertown 21-17 in 2023.

Archbishop Ryan (4-2) vs. Lansdale Catholic (4-2), Friday, 7 p.m. (at North Penn)

The Raiders are 3-0 in the PCL Blue, while the Crusaders sit at 2-0 (along with Neumann-Goretti) in the division.

Lansdale Catholic, which has won three in a row, is coming off of a 22-14 victory over Archbishop Wood and Ryan rallied from a 13-point deficit to down Conwell-Egan 34-27.

Crusaders junior quarterback Boa Cobbold threw three touchdown passes against Wood, including a 60-yarder to junior receiver James Webb Jr.

Junior linebackers Darren Jackson and Braeden Smith, junior defensive back Gio Allison and Webb had interceptions for Lansdale Catholic. Senior linebacker Chris Ulmer led the defense with 12 tackles.

Last meeting: won by LC 24-3 in 2023.

Simkiss twins having a blast: Playing football for Central Bucks East

Central Bucks West (4-2) at Pennsbury (3-3), Friday, 7:30 p.m.

The Bucks (2-1 SOL) topped Neshaminy 21-10 last week while Pennsbury (1-2 SOL) fell to CB South 12-7.

CB West received another big day from do-everything senior running back/linebacker Ryan Clemens. He ran for 155 yards on 21 carries, scored two TDs (rushing, receiving) and had seven tackles. Senior quarterback Noah Miller contributed 124 yards on 19 attempts, plus one rushing and one passing touchdown.

Bucks senior Jackson Lindenmuth had 10 tackles and sophomore linebacker Nick Miletto added nine.

The Falcons scored against CB South on a 101-yard fumble return by senior defensive back Antonio Pelham. Senior Chris Karamis punted five times for an average of 48.6 yards in the game.

Last meeting: won by CB West 20-3 in 2023.
