According to PGA TOUR Communications, Tiger Woods has withdrawn from the second round of The Genesis Invitational at Riviera Country Club due to illness.

The Genesis Invitational was Woods' first official PGA TOUR event since the 2023 Masters. However, Woods said he dealt with back spasms during the first round and finished with a score of 72 on Thursday.

"My back spasmed on it," Woods said of his eight-iron shot on the par-four 18th. "It had been spasming over the last three holes and it just locked up on me and didn't move, didn't rotate."

During the second round on Friday, the 15-time major champion was 1-over after playing six holes and had just hit his tee shot on the par-4 seventh hole when he was taken back to the locker room on a cart.

After much anticipation, Woods' return to the course ended on a somber note, prompting fans to take to social media to share their reactions.
