Falcons Twitter devastated by injuries in preseason opener

Falcons rookie quarterback Michael Penix Jr. was impressive in his preseason debut Friday night against the Miami Dolphins. Unfortunately, things didn't go as well for Penix's former Washington teammate, Bralen Trice. Atlanta's third-round pick had to be helped off the field late in the second quarter and did not return.

That wasn't the only notable injury on Friday, though. Second-year safety DeMarcco Hellams had to be carted off just a few minutes into the game. Hellams' injury appeared slightly more serious as he was seen with a cast around his lower left leg.

Preseason games are important but seeing two promising young players go down in the first half hurt to watch. Falcons fans on Twitter liked what they saw from Penix but were crushed by the injuries to Hellams and Trice:
